Stephanie L. Willatt

Stephanie Willatt has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in various mechanical technologies, including hydraulics, engine components and valves. She has also managed foreign counterpart applications for her clients as part of a world-wide patent strategy.

Before entering private practice, Ms. Willatt served as a patent examiner with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. During her six years at the PTO, she examined patent applications in various mechanical technologies, including post-mix beverage dispensers, pump assemblies, motorized flossing devices and self-cleaning hairbrushes. Ms. Willatt reviewed applications, conducted searches, prepared Office Actions and conducted Examiner Interviews. She earned her certification of negotiation authority and legal competency and earned highest rankings for quality and productivity.

Ms. Willatt received her J.D. degree from George Mason University School of Law and her Bachelor of Science and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Before joining Plumsea, Ms. Willatt was an associate at Finnegan, Henderson, Farabow, Garrett & Dunner, LLP.

Ms. Willatt is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to practice in Virginia. She is a member of the American Bar Association Section on Intellectual Property Law, the American Intellectual Property Law Association and the Women’s Bar Association of the District of Columbia.
