Aslan Baghdadi is an attorney in our Bethesda office. His focus is primarily on patent prosecution before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office as well as preparing opinions and counseling clients regarding infringement, validity, portfolio evaluation, product clearance and other counseling matters. Prior to joining Plumsea, Dr. Baghdadi prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications before the USPTO, and litigated more than three dozen patent infringement cases regarding a wide variety of technologies, including semiconductors, LEDs, charge-coupled devices, differential scanning calorimeters, mass spectrometers, liquid chromatographs, telephones, telephone networks, call centers, and GPS devices, in U.S. District Courts across the United States, including Massachusetts, New York, Delaware, Maryland, Michigan, Illinois, Florida, Texas, California and Washington. Dr. Baghdadi was a partner at Shaw Pittman and Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman, and a Counsel at Latham & Watkins, Paul Hastings, and Crowell & Moring.
Prior to practicing law, Dr. Baghdadi had extensive experience as an engineer in Motorola’s Semiconductor Group working on the design and fabrication of semiconductor devices, on the design of equipment for manufacturing semiconductor devices, and on materials characterization. He was also a physicist at the National Bureau of Standards (now National Institute for Standards and Technology) working on Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, characterization of semiconductor materials, establishing internationally accepted methodologies for materials characterization, and on software solutions to materials characterization problems.
Dr. Baghdadi received his B.Sc. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1966, his Ph.D. in Physics from Brown University in 1972, and his J.D., with highest honors, from the George Washington University Law School in 1990. At George Washington, Dr. Baghdadi was a member of the Law Review and the Moot Court Board.
