Jennifer I. Thissell is a registered patent agent who was a Patent Examiner with the US Patent & Trademark Office for seven years examining inventions in building structures. In her time as a Patent Examiner, she participated in the entire US prosecution process from initial intake and search to appeals to the Board of Patent Appeals and Interferences. Her experience also included PCT search and examination on behalf of the US Receiving Office of WIPO.
Prior to joining the US Patent & Trademark Office, she was an engineer at the Naval Surface Warfare Center – Public Works Department in Indian Head, Maryland. She worked as a design engineer for building structure and land drainage projects, including serving as a design and project manager for a handicap ramp building project. Ms. Thissell also gained experience with land surveys, in particular for fiber optic line placement.
As an undergrad at Renssalaer, she played varsity soccer for all four years, and was Team Captain in her senior year. She was named an NCAA Div. III All-American, and was inducted into the RPI Athletic Hall of Fame. She continues to be active in soccer, serving as Youth Soccer Manager for two travel teams on which her children play.
