Eric Gibson has experience in a wide variety of electrical, mechanical and computer technologies, including automobile electronics and control systems, navigation systems, aviation and aerospace, satellites, telecommunications, software, financial services, drill bits and medical devices.
Mr. Gibson earned his Bachelor’s degree in Physics from the University of Chicago. Mr. Gibson was a Patent Examiner for the United States Patent and Trademark Office for nearly seven years, during which time he attended law school in the evenings. He received his J.D. from The George Washington University Law School with highest honors and as a member of the Order of the Coif. After graduation, he worked at Dow Lohnes, PLLC as an associate in the Media and Information Technologies practice where he gained experience with the preparation of patentability, validity and infringement opinions and client counseling. He has also prosecuted and prepared trademark applications, registrability searches and assisted clients with trademark enforcement issues. Mr. Gibson also has experience with advising clients on the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) and copyright law, including content licensing and fair use opinions.
He is a registered patent attorney and is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Virginia.
